Keeping The Spirit Of 2020 Alive
Lockdown has allowed us time and space to test out a lot of alcoholic beverages and we have been so impressed with what is currently out there particularly in the brandy, gin, and rum space.
In the Gin category we are loving Hobbs Spirits from the OGs of the scene Hope Distillery, the interesting and exciting Monks Gin, the beautiful Black Rose Gin, and the unique flavours of Still33.
We are loving the work Musgrave are doing with their Swigs range which is the perfect size for a couple of drinks without having to open the whole bottle and are loving the stories of brands like Pimville Gin, named after Pimville in Soweto and Porkbisch Gin who are doing their bit for the environment.
We are still loving the Japanese Gin Roku which we discovered last year and has become our go-to international gin when it comes to taste and quality plus it comes in such beautiful packaging and the bottle is always a show stopper.
We have also loved discovering brands like Blind Tiger Gin and are currently loving everything Six Dogs is currently producing. We cannot wait to taste their Pinotage Stained Gin which sounds incredible and we are sure tastes incredible too.
Elsewhere in the spirits world we have been equally impressed with the rum revolution that is currently happening and we are currently obsessed with Flying Dutchman Rum’s delicious range that are perfect for lockdown winters and Musgrave’s brandies. We are also excited to try Gertie’s Rum.
Some of the other spirits we are looking forward to tasting over the next few months include Siberian Vodka which is a traditional Russian Vodka produced locally right here in the Western Cape and the Buchu Gin and Tonic from Drifter Brewing.
